Executive Director, Universal Conservatory of Ballet (Sacramento, California)

Arsen Serobian is an internationally respected ballet educator, choreographer, and media innovator whose career bridges the heritage of Russian classical ballet and the creativity of American artistry. As Executive Director of the Universal Conservatory of Ballet (UCOFB) in Sacramento, California, he is dedicated to providing world-class, Vaganova-based training that develops both the technique and artistry of young dancers.

Trained at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy under Professor Alexander Bondarenko and influenced by his early studies at the Moiseyev Dance School in Moscow, Mr. Serobian brings to his teaching a rare blend of refined classical precision, musical intelligence, and dramatic expression. After moving to the United States in 1997, he continued to perform and teach, later earning a degree in Computer Science and graduating from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles — a combination that deepened his understanding of both discipline and creativity on stage. He is also a recipient of the Horton Award in Los Angeles, recognizing his outstanding contributions to dance performance and education.

Philosophy and Approach

Mr. Serobian is known for his deep commitment to authentic classical ballet education. His teaching emphasizes placement, alignment, and musicality as the foundation for technical excellence and artistic freedom. By refocusing students on precision and body awareness, he helps them overcome the common plateau that limits progress and fosters a deeper understanding of movement. His classes integrate both classical and character traditions, infusing Vaganova structure with the dramatic vitality of the Moiseyev heritage.

Innovation and Global Vision

In 2007, Mr. Serobian founded DanceChannelTV.com, one of the first digital platforms dedicated to dance education and performance, featured in the Los Angeles Times. Through his global platform Learn Ballet Online, he shares the principles of classical ballet with students worldwide, offering structured Vaganova-based programs accessible to all levels. His ongoing mission is to connect the timeless discipline of ballet with modern tools for learning and inspiration.

Leadership

At the Universal Conservatory of Ballet, Mr. Serobian combines his artistic insight and organizational leadership to create a forward-thinking training environment. His goal is to help each dancer find freedom through discipline — developing not only skill but also confidence, self-awareness, and artistry.

Mr. Serobian also serves as a judge for international ballet competitions, including Youth Ballet Masters (YBM), dedicated to promoting excellence and integrity in classical ballet.

“I want people to remember me because I’ve done something to change the way people see dance.”
